The Internet is changing the way we live, work, learn and play. In this next phase of the Internet, it’s all about innovation and productivity being centered on collaboration and Web 2.0 technologies. The network is no longer just the plumbing of the Internet, simply connecting everyone online; it is becoming a platform that enables all life’s experiences. At this special member event, we will hear about transformation and collaboration from senior executive Tim Magner, director of Educational Technology for the U.S. Dept. of Education and John Chambers, Chairman and CEO of Cisco Systems.

Tim Magner will talk briefly about School 2.0: Technology and the Future of School. Over the past several years a number of technology trends have emerged that together have transformed our world, economically and socially. Our education system is not immune to these changes. From technologically savvy digital-natives, to the increasingly competitive global economy to the social transformation brought about by the internet, the students attending our schools and the expectations they need to meet have changed considerably. Mr. Magner will examine these trends, explore their implications for our education system, and discuss a collaborative approach to evolving schools to meet the needs of this changing world.

John Chambers will tell us what he sees occurring in IT and communications on a global basis, the 2nd wave of productivity for the internet - collaboration and Web 2.0 - and how Cisco is transforming to meet those changing environments. Hear how collaboration of information, any where, any time on any combination of networks, through whatever device you want – securely - is the next wave of the internet that will eventually transform business and government.
