John Enggren

John Enggren is the Program Manager for Grants.gov with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). His outstanding leadership has guided the department in developing strong partnerships with organizations, individuals, and federal agencies for a government-wide shared service. He is currently spearheading the NextGen System Project by improving the Grants.gov website functionality and design. John successfully implemented a new system for collecting funds from 26 federal agencies that significantly streamlined and improved the overall operation of the Grants.gov website.

John got his start working for the federal government as a Senior Architect with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He was then asked to start a new program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for a document management solution, where he was featured for his work in Document Management Magazine in 2009; he ultimately received the OpenText GlobalStar Overall Strategic Winner Award in 2009. After becoming the IT lead at Grants.gov, he received the NIH Director’s Award in 2014 for joint program system automation.

Born in Sweden and raised in Pennsylvania, John is the proud father of two young boys and is an active volunteer with Boy Scouts of America, participating as a Cub Scout Den Leader. A graduate from American University, John received his master’s degree in international business. He also studied computer information systems and management at York College of Pennsylvania, where he received his bachelor’s degree. He is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and as an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Expert.
